Sarasota Orchestra

Florida's oldest continuing orchestra

Founded in 1949, the Sarasota Orchestra is Florida's longest-standing continuing orchestra, presenting more than 100 classical, pops, and chamber concerts each season. Performances live primarily at the historic Holley Hall and the Van Wezel, with the much-anticipated new Sarasota Music Center in the works. The Sarasota Music Festival in June draws emerging and established players from around the world for three weeks of intensive chamber music.

The Sarasota Ballet

America's home for the Ashton repertoire

Under Director Iain Webb, The Sarasota Ballet has become internationally known for staging works by Sir Frederick Ashton and other classical British choreographers rarely performed in the U.S. The season runs October through May at the Sarasota Opera House, the Van Wezel, and the FSU Center for the Performing Arts, with mixed-rep programs and full-length classics alike.

Sarasota Opera

Sarasota Opera performs its winter and spring festivals inside a beautifully restored 1926 Mediterranean Revival opera house downtown. The company is best known for the Verdi Cycle, an ambitious decades-long project that produced every work Verdi composed. Productions are sung in the original language with English supertitles.
