Legacy Trail Sarasota

Plan a Legacy Trail Sarasota ride or walk with trail hours, trailheads, parking notes, route ideas, and official map links.

Legacy Trail Sarasota route

The Legacy Trail is Sarasota's paved north-south exercise spine, useful for walking, running, cycling, rollerblading, and low-stress weekend movement. Sarasota County lists trail hours as 6 a.m. to sunset, and Friends of The Legacy Trail describes the paved multiuse trail as an 18.5-mile route from Sarasota south to the Historic Venice Train Depot, with Venetian Waterway Park extending the ride farther south.

How to plan a first ride or walk

For a first visit, pick one trailhead and do a short out-and-back instead of trying to cover the full corridor. Morning is best in warm months. Bring water, sun protection, and a plan for exposed sections. The trail is dog-friendly at parking areas and trailheads, but heat matters quickly on pavement.
